Memphis Family Shelter News
Memphis Family Shelter serves women who are
experiencing a major crisis in their lives. Many are
living with family members who no longer wish to
house them. Others are living in emergency shelters
and have nowhere else to go. Still others have been driven from
their homes by domestic violence, or have remained in dangerous
situations because they feel they have no other option.
Since opening its doors, Memphis Family Shelter has helped 247
homeless women make a better life for themselves and their 593
children by participating in supportive services and training for independent
living.
In the past year alone, 78% of families have transitioned to independent
living from Memphis Family Shelter.
I want to thank the ladies that donated at the last meeting. Like I
have always said, if you would like to go see this wonderful place,
call me. I talked to Carolyn Brasfield at the shelter and she wanted
us to know that our apartment is now on the shelter
TOUR. Hey, our name is on the door. Our mother and child have
moved on, which is great for them, and a little sad for us.
The shelter is always in need of paper towels, toilet paper and twin-size sheets. We have had sheets donated by several members, but they really need more twin. Thanks so much for caring!
